The Nissan Leaf is a fully electric vehicle with the long-range capability and futuristic equipment for hassle-free usage. It will be available in three variants with two sets of battery packs. The basic variant S would feature battery with a capacity of 24 kWh, and the premium variants SV and SL will feature a battery package with 30 kWh rating. The Nissan Leaf features will be loaded with ultra-modern equipment, like a navigation system with a 7-inch multi-touch control color monitor; and Nissan connects with navigation and mobile app, allowing for remote controlling for switching ON/OFF of the charging and checking the status of battery charge.
The Nissan Leaf mileage would range around 134 km with the 24 kW lithium-ion battery and 170 km with the 34kW lithium-ion battery, in one complete charge. The premium variants SV and SL feature the 34 kW battery and the base variant S comes with the 24 kW battery. The Nissan Leaf specifications feature an 80 kW AC synchronous motor with two battery pack options – a 24 kW lithium-ion battery with 134 km range and a 30 kW lithium-ion battery with 170 km range. The drive train features single-speed reduction gear with palm-shift drive selector. The battery charge option includes the quick-charge DC fast charge station port with which up to 80 percent charging can be done in 30 minutes. The normal charging with a 240-volt charging dock can take 6 to 8 hours depending upon the variant selected. The opportunity charging option with 110/120 V-cable takes longer but serves as an option for charging from a low voltage source.
The Nissan Leaf brake system will feature ventilated disc brakes with a regenerative braking system, and anti-lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution for effective controlling on wet and slippery surfaces. The suspension system will feature independent strut suspension with coils at the front and torsion bar axle suspension at the rear. The 16-inch wheels will be available in the base variant and the other variants will feature 17-inch alloy wheels as standard. The safety system will feature dual airbags, an energy-absorbing steering column, child safety door locks for effective protection of the occupants, and Nissan vehicle immobilizer anti-theft system for preventing the car from theft.
The Nissan Leaf exteriors will feature LED headlights with automatic ON/OFF, fog lights, body-colored front, and rear bumpers, chrome door handles, and wide options for body color selection. The charging point is connected at the front with lock and light for safety and ease of accessibility. The rear spoiler will feature a photovoltaic panel for an additional supply of charge for the battery on the go. The interiors will have premium-quality upholstery and superior quality of fit and finish, utility features of bottle holders, and versatility of boot space for accommodating a huge amount of baggage.
