The botanical name of the orchid is Malaxis veriscolor orchid and common name of the orchid is colorful Malaxis. The orchids are from orchidaceous orchid family. The orchid is also known as Microstylis Versicolor, Seidenfia Versicolor, Liparis prichilus, Reheedei Versicolor, Reheedii Versicolor.



It is a ground Orchid. These plants are native of the Western Ghats as well as Assam in Eastern India, and in Sri Lanka at elevations of 1200-2600 meters as a small size.



Colorful Malaxis is a terrestrial orchid with the short stem, pseudo bulb ovoid. Leaves are 2 rarely 3-5stlkles. Growing of the orchid is in cool to the cold place. Flowers are borne in densely flowered raceme atop the leafless stem. Bracts are lance-shaped, deflexed. Flowers are small, yellow or purple colored. Lip is short wedge-shaped or kidney-shaped, with comb-like teeth.




These plants are blooms in the summer season on a terminal erect 20-35cm long. The flower size is 4mm. These plants specifically grow in dense shadow, Wet soil, and moisturized rocks. The color of the stem is purple light and the color of the flower is yellowish green, light reddish.
